When the grow bag is placed on the bed of capillary spikes, the spikes puncture the bottom of the grow bag. The capillary fabric on the spikes absorbs water and (if needed) nutrient solution from the reservoir, irrigating and nourishing the grow bag from the inside.
The capillary fabric is not included with the Autopot irrigation spike.
